Imagine a world without the internet. This is a reality for 2/3 of the Earth’s population.
In an attempt to deliver information to everyone on the planet, Outernet, an NYC-based global broadcast startup is working on an ambitious project to launch hundreds of satellites into space that will provide free WIFI for everyone on Earth.
“We have a very solid understand[ing] of the costs involved, as well as experience working on numerous spacecraft,” Syed Karim, one of Outernet’s leaders has been quoted saying, “There’s really nothing that is technically impossible to this.”
If things go according to plan, Outernet could be here as soon as June 2015.
